The History of MJ Knapp Insurance Agency
The M.J. Knapp Agency was established in 1934 by Martin Jackson Knapp. Marty was a railroad worker and was looking to supplement his income upon retirement from the railroad. When his son, Larry J. Knapp, had fulfilled his service with the Navy, he purchased the agency and managed it from 1968 until 1996. Larry and Marilyn’s daughter, Jennifer L. Conroy, bought the agency in 1996 after having worked in the agency as a licensed agent for 13 years. She continues to manage the business much as her family members did before her. The agency still has that small town, homey feel as you walk in the door.
Jennifer is also a Certified Insurance Counselor which is a prestigious accomplishment among insurance agents. In order to become a CIC you must pass several rigorous exams regarding each aspect of insurance. Upon achieving this designation, you must also attend these updated courses every year to maintain the designation. Her expertise is in all areas of the insurance business but her “thing” is farm accounts. She is licensed in crop insurance and can button up an entire farm account to keep the family farm protected.
